SUMMARY:

The Applications Engineer II reports to the Sales Manager and is responsible for supporting internal and external customers with product and technical knowledge. Typical tasks include evaluating customer needs and project specifications, defining application requirements, performing product demonstrations, delivering technical presentations, and developing custom solutions to solve customer problems. This position will also have an important role in serving as Technical Advisor in our R&D effort providing technical guidance to our R&D team when necessary. The Applications Engineer II must have expert-level knowledge of power electrical equipment with strong electrical background, extensive knowledge of UL Standards & NEC requirements backed by vast experience in electrical equipment solutions. Furthermore, the Application Engineer II must be successful working in cross-functional teams assisting with product knowledge, applications, regulatory requirements that align with evolving business needs & market requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prioritize outstanding external and internal customer service in every aspect related to this position as the central focus.

• Acquire customer insights through conversations, observations, feedback analysis, and collaboration with sales team.

• Ensure alignment between the engineering team and the customer specifications to develop solutions that meet mechanical, electrical, safety, functional, cost target, and manufacturability requirements for all product lines.

• Ensure alignment between products and customer specifications through a solid understanding of world-class design principles, regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and broad market trends.

• Review customer inquiries and work with the Sales team to prioritize customer engagements with high potential fit for their portfolio & requirements.

• Articulate and uphold the company’s core competencies & values, identifying business-building opportunities that leverage these.

• Collaborate with the commercial operations team, sales managers, and project managers to plan, prepare, and execute strategic deals in complex sales cycles.

• Match customer requirements with proposed standard or customized solutions.

• Support the Commercial Operations Team in determining the scope of supply from project drawings and specifications.

• Estimate product costs at the bid stage for custom engineered solutions.

• Assist the Customer Experience Manager in routing customer inquiries and opportunities based on Standard or Custom Engineered products.

• Create and deliver technical presentations and demos showcasing the unique value proposition of products.

• Manage all technical aspects of Pre-Sale & Post-Sale communications as part of external and internal customer service.

• Communicate client needs to the R&D & design teams for future product enhancements & developments.

• Collect and document competitive intelligence.

• Assist with QC testing and provide troubleshooting support as needed.

• Assist with R&D product certification and listing as needed.

• Preparation and execution of factory acceptance and site acceptance procedures as required.

• Travel to customer sites as needed to assist with warranty claims or support the sales team.

• Planning and implementation of training courses and presentations for internal and external customers.

• Perform other job-related instructions as requested by their supervisor, subject to reasonable accommodations.

• Write and publish technical papers and bulletins and conduct webinar training sessions as the company’s principal technical expert representative.

• Abide by all rules and regulations as set in the employee handbook.

• Be the point of contact with UL, ETL and other regulatory bodies.

• Become the technical expert in all product offerings.

• Willingness to travel up to 40% of the time inside the country with a target of 25%

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 3+ years of proven work experience as a Sales or Applications Engineer

• 3+ years of technical experience working with electrical & power equipment

• 3+ years of experience working with electrical regulatory agencies and NRTL (cUL, ETL, NEC, DOE, CSA, IEC, etc.)

• Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification preferred

• Ability to work harmoniously with internal and external resources at all levels, an earnest posture to encourage feedback, a keenness to listen and learn assiduously from others, as well as an openness to share sound management, business or analytical perspectives that enhance knowledge and skill of others in turn.

• Excellent communication, persuasion, and presentation skills, written and oral.

• Ability to drive & willingness to travel nationally and internationally.

• Ability to forge strong, long-lasting relationships with the members of the management team

• Ability to creatively explain and present complex concepts in an easy-to-understand manner
